Men’s County Semi-Finals Woes

Central’s excellent run the the singles, triples and fours county competitions came to a shuddering halt at the semi-finals day held at Essex County BC.

In the morning Kevin Fitzgerald played the perfect game for three quarters of his game against Peter Ayling. However, in the last quarter, with Kevin only needing a few shots for victory, Ayling dragged himself back from 8 shots down to take the lead and ultimately run out the winner.

Also in the morning Central’s triple of Keith Lloyd, Mick Bird and Len Welton were always behind and didn’t threaten the Larsen team’s early lead.

Then in the afternoon the four of Colin Jones, Dave Waters, Paul Woodford and Mitch Brenner out played their opponents from Bocking Alliance for most of the game but were undone on a single end when they dropped a seven. That allowed Bocking to leap into the lead and despite Central’s good play in the last few ends they lost by a single shot.
